"raw" is a resource guide for the newbie raw foodie. Contained within these pages are useful tips and tools for those embarking on the raw lifestyle. Food is our fuel and the quality of fuel we use is an integral part of living well. Heat damages food and degrades its beneficial qualities, causing it to lose all of its enzymes (or "life force"). Our digestive system works harder and longer to process cooked food and we garner less nutrition and energy from cooked food than from raw. Once cooked, food can lose up to 85% of its nutritional value (raw foodists call that "dead food.")
Unprocessed and uncooked plant foods - like fresh or dried fruit and vegetables, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, and seaweed - are the staples in eating raw. Typically, at least 75% of our diet should be living or raw. We are essentially what we eat, and consuming the dead energy of dead foods make our bodies feel heavy and stagnant.
A raw diet is inherently a more energetic diet. Eating raw enables us to consume the proper amount of water, vitamins, minerals and beneficial enzymes needed for a healthy, energetic life.
Welcome to raw!
